VOOPOO VINCI 3

Product intro and specs

The VINCI 3 is the latest pod system release from VOOPOO, a popular vaping brand known for devices like the original DRAG mod. I’ve found VOOPOO’s products to be hit or miss, but their pod systems are generally quite good, so I was eager to try out their newest pod device.

The VINCI 3 feels like a hybrid between a typical pod system and a box mod. It has an OLED screen, adjustable wattage output from 5-50W, and fully adjustable airflow control. The built-in battery is 1800mAh and it uses replaceable 4mL pods compatible with the widely available PnP coils.

With mod-like adjustability and the capability to use different PnP coils, the VINCI 3 seems like an advanced pod system from VOOPOO. I’m curious to test it out and see how the performance stacks up to the specs and features offered. The VINCI 3 can be purchased at ejuiceconnect.store once it is released.

Build quality and design

The VINCI 3 has a rectangular shape that is common for many pod systems today. Despite its large internal battery, it maintains a pocketable form factor with some nice design touches. The body is constructed from a sturdy zinc alloy frame with decorative plastic panels on the front and back. A rubberized coating on the bottom keeps it stable while standing upright.

One great feature is the adjustable airflow slider below the pod. It provides a meaningful range from a tight MTL draw all the way to a loose direct lung hit. The device feels lightweight yet solidly built in hand. It should easily withstand daily use thanks to its durable construction.

The VINCI 3 comes in 5 different color options. Three have a black frame while the rose gold and aurora blue versions match the frame to the panels. My carbon fiber black unit has a sleek matte black body paired with shiny carbon fiber accents.

The 0.69″ display is basic but provides key info like battery percentage, wattage, puff count, and resistance. The see-through pod lets you easily monitor juice levels through the large window.

Overall, the VOOPOO VINCI 3 has a stylish design, great build quality, and useful features like the adjustable airflow and juice window. It feels high-end and robust despite its pod system form factor. The specs and hardware match the quality aesthetics and construction.

Getting started

The VINCI 3 is an advanced pod system best suited for vapers with some prior device experience. It has a single button that turns the device on/off with 5 clicks or enters “wattage adjust mode” with 3 clicks. In this mode, you can hold to cycle through wattages or click to adjust, then long click to lock in the setting. The button also fires the device, but it’s automatically draw-activated as well. The wattage will auto-adjust to the coil’s max based on resistance.

Filling the pod is simple – just push back the tip cover to expose the fill hole and silicone plug. Insert your bottle tip and squeeze in juice. The large window makes it easy to monitor fill levels.

The magnetic pod pops in and out effortlessly with no wiggle. To remove, just grab and pull out. To reinsert, pop back in place and the magnets secure it. Replacing coils is also tool-free – just pull out the used coil and push in a new one by hand. The protruding design makes this very easy.

The VINCI 3 is intuitive enough for vapers with some prior experience and those willing to learn. The easy coil swaps, adjustable air, effortless filling, and juice window make it beginner-friendly too. With a little practice, most users should find it very straightforward and convenient to use on a daily basis. The well-thought-out design makes operation nearly foolproof.

Performance

The VINCI 3 is compatible with VOOPOO’s full line of PnP coils, ranging from 10W MTL up to 40W+ DL options, plus an RBA coil. The adjustable airflow lets you tune the draw from a tight MTL to an airy DL hit. The kit includes one DL and one MTL coil to suit both vaping styles.

The PnP-TW30 is a 0.3ohm coil rated for 28-36W DL vaping. I preferred it around 30W with the air open. The flavor was just alright and coil life was mediocre. At 20-30W, it falls into an awkward middle ground – too low for satisfying DL, too high for MTL.

The 0.6ohm PnP-DW60 is made for 18-23W loose MTL to restricted DL vaping. Using 50mg nic salt juice, I found the best results at 17W with the air 1/4 open. Flavor was good for a pod coil and coils lasted extremely long, over 20mL of juice.

Overall, the higher wattage coil was a letdown, but the 0.6ohm MTL coil makes the VINCI 3 excel as a pod system. The excellent coil life and solid flavor in the ideal wattage range for pods really impressed me.

While the higher wattage coil wasn’t great, the VINCI 3 performs beautifully as a pod device with the 0.6ohm MTL coil and airflow dialed in. Vapers who use pods for a tighter MTL draw will find it delivers in terms of flavor and coil longevity. The flexibility to switch coils for a looser MTL or restricted DL is also a nice bonus.

Battery life and charging

The VINCI 3 has a built-in 1800mAh battery but the charge rate is unspecified. It charges via USB-C, conveniently located on the side under the airflow inlets so it can stand up while charging.

My testing showed a max charge rate of 1.11A, so 1A is a fair rating if specified. Due to the large capacity, charge times are long – around 1 hour 45 minutes, compared to 30-60 minutes for most pods. However, I measured a usable 1700mAh which is excellent compared to the rating (only 6% less).

Battery life is huge for a pod system thanks to the 50W max output. Paired with the lower wattage MTL coil, it should easily last all day for most vapers.

Oddly, the VINCI 3 lacks passthrough vaping while charging, a rare omission these days. This seems to be a VOOPOO issue since I’ve seen it before on their devices. Still, passthrough is expected on pod systems so I’ll have to critique them for leaving that feature out.

Overall, while charging is slow, the large battery capacity more than makes up for it by providing exceptionally long battery life. The high 1700mAh rating is nearly realized in real-world use too. The lack of passthrough is a shame but the long runtime between charges somewhat offsets that limitation.

Pros / Cons

Pros:

– Great build quality – durable and lightweight
– Compact and pocketable design
– Simple to use and fill
– 0.69″ display screen
– Adjustable wattage up to 50W
– Clear pods with large juice window
– Uses popular PnP coils with tons of options
– Two coils included in kit
– Excellent flavor and life from 0.6ohm MTL coil
– Tool-free coil swaps
– Fully adjustable airflow
– Large 1700mAh battery lasts all day

Cons:

– No passthrough vaping while charging
– Long 1 hr 45 min charge time due to big battery
– 0.3ohm DL coil performance is mediocre

The VINCI 3 shines in terms of build quality, ease of use, battery life and flexibility with adjustable power, airflow and coil options. Swappable coils, a great MTL vape from the 0.6ohm coil, and the large battery for extended runtime are definite highlights. Lack of passthrough and the underwhelming 0.3ohm coil hold it back slightly, but overall the pros greatly outweigh the cons on this well-designed pod system.

Verdict

In summary, the VOOPOO VINCI 3 has an excellent design and performs very well as a pod system. When used with the 0.6ohm MTL coil, it provides a great loose MTL vape which is where it really shines.

For vapers who use pod devices primarily for a tighter MTL draw, the VINCI 3 is a great choice. The larger battery capacity, bigger pod size, and fully adjustable airflow make it superior to most pods on the market today. The only trade off is slightly larger overall size.

I wouldn’t recommend the VINCI 3 as much for direct lung vaping unless you want the option to do some restricted DL hits occasionally. It really excels as an MTL pod system.

The VINCI 3 nails the fundamentals. The build quality, battery life, pod capacity, replaceable coils, and adjustable airflow make it a versatile, high-performing pod device. Vapers who prioritize a customizable MTL vape will be very pleased with this new pod offering from VOOPOO.
